How to Score at the Mind Body Soul

The Mind Body Soul is Alberta’s longest running Jiu Jitsu tournament and with that we have seen the evolution of the sport in Alberta from the beginning.  One of the biggest challenges we see is how the scoring system in interpreted.  To help with the confusion with the growing number of rules and how they are understood, we have made a series of short videos.

We hope that this will help Competitors, Coaches, Parents and Spectators better enjoy the tournaments.  It can be very frustrating losing to rules you were not aware of and to understand them fully is a very big task.  If you would like to look further into the rules please go to (under the referee heading) to get the most up to date copy.

Please enjoy this video.  With the help of Coach Pritpaul Phul we tried to keep this a brief overview of the rules, not a detailed breakdown of every technique and how the rules are applied.  It should cover 80% of the situations encountered.  If you have any questions please come out to our ref clinic Saturday June 11th (more info to come shortly).
